望子成龙的家长们事事都想替孩子代劳，就连申请大学也要家长亲自上阵。英国大学及学院入学招生服务处（UCAS）表示，他们将允许家长充当学生申请大学的代理人。
据英国广播公司报道，UCAS的发言人说，申请代理服务的设立主要是为了方便那些正处于间隔年（gap year）的学生。这些学生可能人在外地，因此可以委托父母或朋友代他们申请。
替子申请
但这名发言人也承认，父母们经常打电话来询问或监督子女的大学申请情况，而且这种现象越来越普遍。
此前，申请大学必须由学生本人直接提出。但如今，望子成龙、护子心切的父母频频“挺身而出”，最终争取到了“替子申请”的特权。
今年每十名学生中就有一人委托父母替本人打电话询问进展。但英国大学及学院入学招生服务处表示，更希望与学生直接接触。
该机构的发言人说：“与学生直接接触有助于我们了解学生自己的真实想法，而不是家长的意愿。”
尽管这项代理服务将允许家长与英国大学及学院入学招生服务处直接取得联系，但并未授权家长与各大学招生办直接接洽的权利。
独立思考
布里斯托尔大学（Bristol University）招生办负责人安吉拉·米林（Angela Milln）说，绝大多数学生在申请大学时都已满18岁，家长应该信任自己的子女有能力做出正确的选择。
她说，“有时学生打电话来询问有关申请的情况，经常能听到家长在一旁敦促、评论的声音。但要知道，读书是学生自己的事情，家长过多地干涉可能会适得其反。自2006年政府宣布提高大学学费之后，越来越多的家长将子女上大学看作是一种投资，所以他们不自觉地就会参与进来。”
肯特大学（University of Kent）社会学教授弗兰克·休拉迪（Frank Furedi）说，家长过多地干涉子女申请大学的做法，将损害高等教育和中学教育的区别，因为大学是培养学生独立思考的地方。
他说，一些家长甚至想替孩子参加大学面试，而越来越多的大学也将家长视为学生申请上大学过程中的一个重要因素。这就是为什么在一年一度的学校开放日上，来学校参观的家长比学生还多。

孩子在12岁以下，父母就可以申请陪读签证，第一次12个月，可以在英国延签12个月。而12岁以上的父母只能申请探亲签证，一次6个月，6个月到期后必须离境，不能在英国办理延签。不过探亲签证有一个好处就是父母可以一起去，不像陪读那样只能去一个人。
一般情况下，申请陪读签证必须证明申请者和家人会在签证有效期过后并没有意图留在英国，而且申请者没有违反英国法律制度，没有任何逾期逗留记录，或是非法打工记录。此外，还必须满足规定的经济证明的要求，银行证明或是被承认的财政部门的存款证明。
办陪读或探亲签证，不需要考英语，陪读的父母在英国不能打工，不能申请学校读书。父母有投资移民签证的，孩子可以上公立学校或者私立学校，公立学校是免费的。而父母是陪读签证的话，孩子只能上私校，是付费的。
学校外租房的价格取决于学校所在的地理位置，在英国，伦敦的房租是最贵的。而在伦敦范围内，西边房租普遍高于东边，在西、北四区内，一个单间需要600镑左右。
黑人聚集地的房租普遍便宜，但不建议租，毕竟安全才是最重要的。伦敦的交通非常方便，除了地铁、公交线路多，遍布伦敦各个角落外，市内火车也非常实用。所以可以选择租远一点的地方，但交通方便且安全的地方。

看标题大家会有疑问，为什么单单提到本科生家长。这源于我上周接到的一个客户面访咨询，这位客户的身份正是一名本科应届生家长(以下我化名用Y先生代指)。Y先生和女儿一起到访，向我陈述了家庭基本情况，女儿22岁，从预科开始在英国学习，今年的本科应届毕业生，考虑到各方面因素，父母希望孩子留在海外生活，无奈孩子确迟迟不愿推进此事。
很多人都知道，自2012年PSW签证取消之后，英国毕业生想要留下来实在是难上加难，父亲经过全面的市场调查，跟身边的律师朋友咨询后了解到了美国EB-3高学历人才移民。此项移民申请的费用，也只不过是英国留学一年的学费而已，无论从项目匹配程度，孩子未来的发展，以及操作的资金情况，和Y先生家庭的匹配程度都是极其高的。究竟是什么原因，让孩子迟迟不愿开始操作呢?经过和Y同学沟通，我了解到了孩子的真实心理。总结下来就是就是5个字——毕业生迷茫。很多毕业生在大四这年迎来人生中又一大抉择，我是要考研，还是择业?我的职业方向该如何规划？考公务员？进国企？哪个毕业生不迷茫，心思细腻的Y同学，也正是因为这个原因，不敢迈出移民的第一步。
